The Skin Routine for the Low-Maintenance Man by Dr. Barbara Sturm

Dr. Barbara Sturm, the German aesthetics doctor world-renowned for her anti-inflammatory philosophy and non-surgical anti-aging skin treatments, was part of the team that developed cutting-edge treatments for inflammatory conditions like osteoarthritis. Her products can be found in the medicine cabinets of every in-the-know skincare junkie. 

But for us simpletons, we asked her to break down an easy daily skincare routine any guy can follow. 

HEAL, DON’T ATTACK

A low-maintenance guy can get healthy, glowing skin in 3 simple steps. Men should be particularly careful to heal rather than attack the skin to avoid rosacea, hyperpigmentation, ingrown hairs, and other skin dysfunctions. Shaving is a blessing and a curse; it is wonderfully exfoliating but also inflammation-inducing. 

This is a good start for a man’s fundamental skincare routine, in order of use.

THE BREAKDOWN NOT THE BREAKOUT

STEP 1 – CLEANSE

Two to three times a week, use a facial scrub. Keep it in the shower, and use it to gently exfoliate and prepare the skin to receive the active ingredients from your skincare regime. The other days, cleanse with a pH balanced, foaming cleanser.

STEP 2 – HEAL
