Adam Scott: Stuff I’m Nerding Out on

Adam Scott is a man who gets into the details. Be it the stretchy laces on a good pair of James Spader-style sneakers, a well-designed sleeve for his day-to-day tech, or the perfect espresso machine (which, admittedly, he swiped from James Marsden). While promoting his new Apple TV+ dystopian work/life balance series, the Ben Stiller-directed Severance, we got the Santa Cruz native to break down what’s got him nerding out at the moment. And perhaps most importantly, the actor—best known for some of the wryest comedy ever committed to screen (Parks and Rec, Step Brothers, Party Down)—knows a good Shark Tank investment when he sees one.

Severance is currently streaming on Apple TV+

NOMAD TECH ACCESSORIES

“I love the precision Nomad brings to their designs—for a reasonable price you can get a band for your Apple Watch that not only compliments the original design of the watch face, but adds to it. Both their steel and leather bands are a handsome addition and make your watch feel new again—I switch mine out every couple days. Also, their Base Station charger with the Apple Watch component is a handy, cool-looking addition to any bedside table.”

ROWING BLAZERS BLAZER

“This jacket is just dreamy. Super soft, plushy, thickness that’ll keep you warm when it’s chilly and roomy enough to throw a sweatshirt on underneath. I got Mustard, but all the colors are fresh and unusual, but not too weird—it’ll compliment a more casual look or easily add to a dressier outfit. A nice wide-ish lapel, a rad length, sturdy shoulders… it’s both wholly unique and totally dependable in its functionality. This is your next treasured sport coat.”

ROCKET APARTMENTO ESPRESSO MACHINE

“Ok, so to bring everything full circle, I first heard of this perfect piece of machinery right here in the pages of LEO, in James Marsden’s list. James is cool, smart, and funny so my knee jerk was to co-opt anything of his just to be more like him—so luckily he hit the bullseye here. After spending years in the podspresso mire, it was time to step up my coffee game and this machine is everything you’d want in an entry-level yet-barista-grade unit. It sits comfortably on the counter without taking up too much space, and has a design that will flatter any kitchen. Plus if you get one, you’ll be more like James Marsden.”

J CREW SPERRY CLOUD DECK SNEAKERS IN BIRCH

“These are the most versatile sneakers I’ve had in a while—they look and feel like something James Spader would have worn in 1986, so I vote yes forever. Also, they pair perfectly with…”

THE ORIGINAL STRETCHLACE ELASTIC SHOELACES

It’s so simple, why haven’t we had these our whole lives? Elastic. Shoelaces. Turns any pair of pain-in-the-ass shoes into slip-ons! They come in every color and length, and are a fucking game changer. I saw them on Shark Tank and couldn’t believe no one bit! If I was Barbara Corcoran, and I often wish I was, I would have invested all of my money into this business. Every penny.”

I THINK YOU SHOULD LEAVE

“This is the funniest show around right now, bar none. Do not hesitate—there are two seasons [on Netflix] waiting for you, ready to blow your mind. Tim makes me laugh so deeply and genuinely—you know those convulsive laughs where you struggle to breathe? That is so rare,  it feels so good, and this is getting weird so I’ll stop.”
